5 Successful Ways To Overcome Middle Age Crisis.

So you have been young before. Now it all remains a nostalgic fantasy of the past; collected only in pockets of reminiscent ‘good old days.’ You were young, full of energy, and desired to grow older so that you can swim in the adulations you perceived old people pleasured in. Well, now you are there and the reverse seems to claim your wishes. That gorgeous look is giving in to folds of old age. The energy and pace on the pitch cannot be recollected anymore. You have been so engrossed in the pursuits and attainments of life so much that suddenly you realize things are not what they used to be. Well, old age is heralding that it holds sway.

Considered to be anywhere between the ages of 35 to 50s, middle age comes with so many physiological and psychological changes that take place in an average man.

Factors influencing the middle age

· Geographic location

· Income levels

· Attainments in life

· Putting up a family

· Balancing up career

· Relationships

· Belief systems

· Diet

· Lifestyle.

The list can extend. A loss of parents, siblings, and friends may bring new realities to the fore and hence change the outlook of life for a man. Deep inside him, unknown to him, non-communicable illnesses set in (diabetes, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, relaxation of bladder muscles, etc). On the outside appear grey hair, wrinkled face, falling strength, losing teeth, and more. Emotionally, the fear of reaching the other end of life becomes real. Missed opportunities and lost expectations will be regular guests on the mind. These epitomize anxieties and exacerbate the situation. In some societies, fear of divorce becomes traumatic at this stage as unfulfilled desires and dissatisfaction stress the marriage relationship.

Dealing with a middle age crisis

1. Acceptance — Probably the most important antidote to the middle age crisis. All other endeavors to fight this back will simply be cosmetic and may turn out to be frustrating if you realize that the remedy is but short-lived.

2. Love yourself — In the true sense of reality, self-worth will appreciate you when you make the best of yourself at that stage and love who you are and what are capable of.

3. Socialise — As much as possible enjoy the company of family and friends. While you may be looking down on your outlook, they still value your contribution to life. Engage in worthwhile activities.

4. Invest in long-lasting ventures that free up your time. This is the time to let money work for you other than the other way round.

5. Exercise regularly — This will help quell some lifestyle-related illnesses. Keeping your body in shape will keep you confident. There is no age for or against body fitness. At whatever stage of life, enjoy the moment. There will never be a replay for the time. There are life thrills at 40, 50, and 60 which are not at 80 or 90. They are waiting for you to enjoy them to the fullest while they last. Never worry your life through; live it!
